Frequently Asked Questions
We have compiled a list of questions frequently asked about our door handles and other order matters, please click on the question to read the answer.
A. Yes. All door handles and knobs are supplied as a pair so that one pair will fit one door, one handle for each side of the door. There are some knobs supplied in singles, namely centre door knobs for front doors, and also cabinet knobs.
A. A spindle bar and fixing bolts, screws and grubscrews (where applicable).
A. This will depend on whether you are going to re-use existing latch mechanisms etc that may be present in your door(s). Depending on what new handles/knobs you are planning on fitting, you may not need to buy new if your existing mechanisms are in decent working condition. It is for this reason that door handles are not automatically supplied with latches and locks – there are so many different eventualities. If you are buying door knobs, most are supplied unsprung so we recommend the DL5030 medium sprung tubular latch as the springing will ensure the knobs do not get ‘stuck’ in the open position when in use. This can happen when a cheaper contract latch is used. For door handles on a backplate, you can buy any mortice latch as all handles on plate are pre-sprung. A. The size of the latch is only critical if you are fitting new latches into existing doors and you need to make sure the main bore hole lines up with your new latches/locks on the face of the door (this is called the backset measurement). All measurements are shown on the product page along with line drawings to assist. On new doors, you can use 63mm or 76mm latches/locks, although the minimum should always be 75mm long if you are fitting door knobs, so as to reduce the risk of crunching knuckles as you turn the door knobs.
A. Delivery is free if your order is above £75 total, if not it will be £5.94 and this is a signed for delivery service. For smaller orders under £15 total, you can choose a £3.30 postage option. These are UK mainland prices, all other rates are viewable on the Delivery & Stock page.
A. In general, 2-5 working days. Please check each product as some are made to order and can take longer. If you need your order quickly, or overnight, please call us or use the live chat button on our homepage to request this service – we can normally arrange something quicker, however there would normally be an shipping charge on top for a quicker delivery. If there is an unforeseen delay with part or all of your order, we will contact you to inform you of the options – we can part ship your order if this is agreeable with you, however this may incur a shipping charge. A. No, please email us as soon as possible and we will email you back a coupon code if your extra items are below the free shipping amount, so that you do not pay extra carriage. So, effectively you are placing a new order online, and you would be advised to refer it to your original order in the comments box.
A. No. Our system will recognise you are a non-E.U. country and remove the VAT content automatically at checkout.
Q. I am placing an order as a business within the E.U., and I am exempt from VAT – will the website remove the VAT automatically?
A. No. We require an official purchase order to proceed with an order, so the process will have to be carried out over the telephone and the order faxed to us so we can declare it to the Inland Revenue. Once we have a copy of your order we can remove the VAT from the invoice total.
A. Yes, we ship worldwide via FedEx International or DPD - please let us know if your country is not shown and we will create a country checkout box for you, subject to agreement of shipping charge. Please email us at email@example.com and we will email a quotation back to you once we know what you are planning to order so we can calculate the weight.
A. You must email us within 14 days of receipt of goods, requesting a returns number and stating the reason for return. You cannot return an item without this number. Requests outside the 14 days cannot be entertained. Please also note that goods must be unused in their original packaging. The packaging must not be defaced as this may invalidate any refund.
