Mortice deadlocks are generally used as an additonal lock used on wooden exterior entrance doors. These locks are identified by the use of a key on both sides of the door to lock and unlock the door. Some mortice deadlocks are 3-lever locks, which are generally less secure than 5-lever locks, and will only be used on doors internally where a handle and latch are already fitted.
