How do you measure for a new letterbox?
You can measure the dimensions if your front door has no built-in letterbox already. To do this, use a measuring tape to gauge the size your door requires, ensuring you consider the length and width. As a rule, 254x79mm is largely seen as a UK standard size, however, there are many other sizes to choose from to suit your door size.
At Handles 4 Homes, we stock a variety of letter plate sizes from 254x79mm to 300x112mm so that you can choose the perfect size for your door.
How do you replace a letter plate?
You can replace a letter place without any complications by following these simple steps:
-
From the interior side of your door, lift the flap of your letter plate and identify where the screws are placed, carefully unscrewing them with a screwdriver.
-
Repeat the process from your door's exterior, carefully removing the loosened letter plate to avoid damage.
-
Once you are certain that your new letter plate is the correct size for your door, find the holes in the interior and exterior parts where the screws will go.
-
Starting with the outer side of your door, secure the screws into your letter plate.
-
Repeat the process on the inside. Ask a family member or a neighbour to help if you cannot do this step independently.
-
When letter plates are installed on both sides of your door, ensure they sit tightly in place. Make any necessary adjustments.
